So where to next with the standard?

What do we recommend? Research! Gather as much information as you can, and then make a decision based upon this and your own organizations desired profiel with respect to both information security and the the internation security standard. There is no stock answer for all. A decent portal to start with is the ISO 17799 Directory, but actually obtaining the standards themselves (both ISO 17799 and ISO 27001) is usually a good idea.
